Three PKK members were arrested in Beyrout by Lebanon security forces. The operation against so-called Israeli spies still continues.
During the last week, Lebanon Military Intelligence Service launched operations against the 'spies of Israel' in Jonieh, a coastal city 20 kilometers north of Beyrout. During the operation, 3 PKK members were also caught. Interrogated terrorists were put under arrest for spying for Israel in Lebanon.
"TURKEY IS COMMON ENEMY OF US AND ISRAEL"
Meanwhile, PKK's acting leader Murat Karayılan's recent speech is attracting more attention to the PKK-Israel relations. Two days ago he offered cooperation to Israel against Turkey. The PKK leader declared Turkey as a 'common enemy' by saying "Our enemies are also the enemies of Israel."
"Once we were friends," Murat Karayılan told an Israeli reporter, adding though that since Israel and Turkey began forging closer military ties in the 1980s, "you have been considered here to be among those who systematically assist in our oppression and eradication."
Relations between Israel and Turkey hit a historic low after eight Turks and U.S. citizen of Turkish descent were killed May 31 in an Israeli commando raid on an aid flotilla to Gaza (The Mavi Marmara Crisis).
"Our enemies are also the enemies of Israel," Karayilan said, referring to Turkey's warmer ties with Iran and Syria, which are Israel's foes.
Some experts in Turkey argue that Israel fosters destabilizing acts of terror against Turkey as a means of silencing Ankara's opposition to policies adopted by Tel Aviv. Yavuz Selim Kurt for example described Israel as a supporter of the PKK, which is responsible for hundreds of deaths in its quest for the establishment of an independent separate state in southeastern Turkey.
“Israelis trying to destabilize Turkey and (is) backing this terrorist organization… Everywhere, they are supporting this terrorist organization in order to destabilize the country and to force them not to attack Israel's policies,” Kurt had told the Press TV.
ISRAEL SUPPORTED PKK ATTACK IN ISKENDERUN BASE?
As relations between Israel and its erstwhile ally Turkey deteriorate following the Israeli navy's May 31 killing of nine Turks, authorities in Ankara investigated whether Israel had links to a deadly attack by the PKK terrorists on the same day. Shortly after midnight May 31, PKK militants attacked a military vehicle at the naval base at the port of Iskenderun, in Hatay province near the border with Syria, and killed seven naval personnel.
Iskenderun has never been a target for the PKK although it has carried out attacks across Turkey. A few hours later, Israeli naval commandos stormed the Turkish ship Mavi Marmara, flagship of a convoy carrying humanitarian aid to Israeli-blockaded Gaza, in international waters. They killed nine Turks they claimed attacked them and wounded dozens of pro-Palestinian activists aboard the vessel. Interestingly Israel has never lied the Israel-PKK connection in the Iskenderun attack.
Many Turks saw the two murderous incidents as two sides of the same coin. This was reflected within the political elite. Huseyin Celik, deputy chairman of Erdogan's Justice and development Party, or AKP, noted, "We do not think it's a coincidence that these two attacks took place at the same time." Similarly the leader of the main opposition party, Kemal Kilicdaroglu, claimed that it is really difficult not to see the connection between two attacks.
PKK TERRORISM AS A TOOL AGAINST IRAN
Last week, PKK also held a public demonstration against Iran in Lebanon. Two of PKK members were killed and 8 of them injured during the PKK demonstrations which was reacted against by Hezbollah. It is a well known fact that the United States and Israel support the PKK's Iran branch PJAK against Iranian regime. PJAK has attacked Iranian security forces and killed many police, soldiers and civilians in Iran.
The BBC in 2008 obtained evidence that Israelis have been giving military training to the PKK militants in northern Iraq. A report on the BBC TV programme Newsnight showed Israeli experts in northern Iraq, drilling PKK militias in shooting techniques. PKK officials have refused to comment on the report and Israel has denied it knows of any involvement.
Seymour Hersh in his 2004 article published in the New Yorker described that Israelis training Kurdish militants for use in Iran and Syria for information gathering, sabotage and destabilization operations. Of course these terrorists would also be used in Turkey.
PKK IS ON THE TERRORIST ORGANIZATIONS LISTS
The PKK is listed as a terrorist organization internationally by a number of states and organizations, including the United States, United Nations, NATO and the European Union. More than 37,000 people including 300 children have died since the beginning of the PKK's armed struggle in 1984.
